Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft from vehicles committed at Fernvale Point.

 

2          On 19 January 2015, at about 9.05am, Police were informed that a cash card was stolen from a lorry at Fernvale Point. Through extensive investigative follow up and ground enquiries, officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Jalan Kayu on 22 January 2015. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be also involved in other similar cases.

 

3          The suspect will be charged in Court on 23 January 2015 for an offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code Chapter 224 which carries a maximum of 3 years imprisonment.

  

4          Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures against Theft from Vehicle:

 

  • Always secure your vehicle;

  • Do not leave valuables such as cashcards, laptops, handphones, briefcase, wallets, etc in your vehicle;

  • Note down the serial number of your cashcards;

  • Ensure that your car alarm is in working condition; and

  • If you see any suspicious characters loitering around the vicinity, do take note of their appearance, clothing, height, age or any other distinctive physical features and contact the Police for assistance.
