Police have arrested a 54-year-old man for using his old residential address to obtain illegal loans from loansharks. Arising from his actions, the current occupants were harassed by loansharks. Acting on the report lodged, officers from Jurong Police Division arrested him in Bukit Batok East Avenue 4 on 29 January 2015 at about 11.15am.

 

Investigations against the 54-year-old man are ongoing. Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), any person who is guilty of providing false contact information to obtain loans from loansharks shall be liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months.
