On 27 and 28 April 2015, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), assisted by representatives from Samsung and Apple, conducted a series of raids at Beach Road, Bedok, Clementi, Changi, Jurong West, Macpherson, Senoko, and arrested two 28-year-old men for their suspected involvement in the sales and distribution of counterfeit mobile phones and accessories such as batteries, battery chargers, powerbanks, charging cables, earpieces / headphones and phone casings.
2 A total of about 7,050 counterfeit goods with an estimated street value of about $245,655 were also seized during the raids. Investigations into these cases are ongoing.
3 Persons found guilty of selling or distributing infringing goods with falsely applied trade mark may be fined up to a maximum of $100,000, or an imprisonment term which may extend to five years, or both.
