Police have arrested three youths, aged between 17 and 18, for their suspected involvement in a case of Theft of Motorcycle.

 

2          On 21 April 2015, Police received a report regarding a motorcycle being stolen from an open carpark along Jurong West Street 93. Following the report, officers from the Jurong Police Division carried out extensive ground enquires and investigations. The alert officers then spotted and arrested one suspect who was travelling on the suspected stolen motorcycle along Jurong West Avenue 2 on the night of 30 April 2015. Through further investigations, the officers established the identities of the two other suspects and arrested them on the same night.

 

3          Two of the suspects will be charged in Court on 2 May 2015 for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, each faces a maximum jail term of 7 years and shall also be liable to a fine. Investigations against the remaining suspect are ongoing.

 

4          Police would like to remind motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

 

  • Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle whenever it is left unattended, even if it is only for short while;

  • Install an anti-theft alarm; and

  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks on your motorcycle.
