Police have arrested a 53-year-old man for Robbery with hurt reported at Tekka Market.

On 29 September 2015 at about 6.45 pm, the victim was walking at the basement carpark along Serangoon Road when she felt someone pulling her purse from the rear. The suspect continued pulling the victim's purse despite her holding onto it tightly. The suspect then bit the victim's right forearm, causing her to release her grip. The suspect fled the scene next, taking the victim's purse containing cash and several bank cards.

Upon receiving the report, officers from Central Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and viewed the CCTV footages at the vicinity to establish the identity of the suspect, who was subsequently arrested along Hougang Street 61 on 29 September 2015 at about 11.20pm.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 1 October 2015 for an offence of Robbery with Hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and shall also be punished with caning with not less than 12 strokes.
