Man Arrested For Cheating, Housebreaking, Loanshark Harassment And Other Offences

The Police have arrested a 47-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases and other offences.

Between October 2019 and April 2020, the police received several reports where the man had allegedly collected rental fees from victims amounting to more than $33,000 for residential units along Yung Kuang Road which did not belong to him. After moving into the units, the victims discovered that the man was not the owner of the units and not authorised to rent out the units.

Through investigations and enquiries, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 27 August 2020. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is suspected to be involved in other offences, including housebreaking and loanshark harassment.

The man will be charged in court on 28 August 2020 with cheating under section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.

Police investigations are ongoing.
