SMS 70999 Emergency Service

For members of the deaf, hard-of-hearing and speech-impaired (DHS) community

Introduction

As part of the iGov2010 master plan to increase the reach and richness of government e-services, the Emergency Short Messaging Service (SMS) Helpline or SMS 70999 has been launched at the Police Workplan Seminar on 5 May 2008 by Mr. Wong Kan Seng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs.

This joint initiative between the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the National Council of Social Service (NCSS) offers member of the deaf, hard-of-hearing and speech-impaired community another avenue of communication in times of emergencies.
