NPCC Marching

The National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) is a youth uniformed group in Singapore. Established in 1959, the NPCC is supported by the Ministry of Education and the Singapore Police Force. Cadet Inspectors (CI) & Honorary Officers (HO) are appointed through the Home Team Corps Act. They are part of the National Police Cadet Corp (NPCC) volunteer scheme.

Roles and Responsibilities

Cadet Inspectors (CI) are youth leaders appointed to the Corps to assist Teacher Officers, Honorary Officers in carrying out the training programmes of NPCC. They contribute their services in classroom and field training of the cadets, and in the course of such involvement, gain exposure and practical training to become youth leaders in the community.

Entry Requirements

NPCC Cadets who meet the following requirements may apply through their Officer-in-Charge of NPCC unit:

Eligibility: NPCC cadets who have graduated from their secondary school and been admitted to a Post-Secondary Educational Institution. They are required to hold a minimum rank of Staff Sergeant.

Fitness: Physically fit (required to pass the medical examination)

Badges:

Possess all the following badges:
2nd Class Drill
Camp Craft
Adventure Training
Police Knowledge
Total Defence
and

Possess at least one of the following badges:
Marksmanship
Community Safety and Security
Swimming
Kayaking

Training requirements
Trainees will undergo a 2-week non-residential training at Home Team Academy and a compulsory 1-week experiential training camp at Camp Resilience on Pulau Ubin. Trained Cadet Inspectors will assist the teacher officers to manage and train cadets in NPCC curriculum; which includes hard skills like drills, camp craft, marksmanship, organisational skills and more.

Roles and Responsibilities

Honorary Officers are adult leaders appointed to the Corps to assist teacher-officers in carrying out the training programmes of NPCC. Honorary Officers contribute their expertise, knowledge and experience in various areas in particular on soft skills, and assist in the smooth running of the NPCC Unit and the Corps.

Entry Requirements

Male to complete NS liabilities

Nationality: Singaporean Citizen or Permanent Resident

Age: Above 22 years old

Education Qualification: Minimum 'A' levels or Diploma

Others: An applicant must be recommended by the OC Unit (NPCC) or Staff Officer (NPCC HQ). An exception is made for applicants from NTU and NUS who join through the open units. The OC Unit or the Staff Officer (NPCC HQ) must be able to ensure that the HO has a role to play at the unit or HQ. Before any applicant is approved, a place of attachment must be identified. They would be appointed as HOs after the successful completion of the Officer Basic Training Course and Head HR, NPCC HQ, would decide their postings.

Training requirements

Trainees will undergo a 1-week non-residential training at Home Team Academy and a compulsory 3-day 2-night residential training camp at Camp Resilience on Pulau Ubin. Through this training, Honorary Officers would be equipped with both the necessary hard and soft skills which will enable them to effectively assist Teacher Officers at the respective NPCC school units. Trained Honorary Officers shall deepen their cadets’ learning experiences as well as actively guide and mentor cadets and cadet inspectors to run the training programmes effectively in schools.
