Teenager To Be Charged For Voluntarily Causing Hurt By Dangerous Weapons

The Police will be charging a 15-year-old male teenager on 27 March 2024 for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.

On 22 March 2024 at about 12pm, the Police received a report regarding a case of assault. While the victim was walking along Fernvale Lane, an unknown assailant allegedly struck her back with a metal rod and hurled vulgarities at her. As a result, the victim suffered minor injuries. Preliminary investigations revealed that the attack was unprovoked.

Through the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the teenager. He was subsequently arrested on 25 March 2024.

He will be charged in court on 27 March 2024 with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons under Section 324 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, or with fine, or with caning, or with any combination of such punishments.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such brazen acts of violence and will not hesitate to act against those who blatantly disregard the law.
