Teenager Arrested For Housebreaking Within 12 Hours Of The Report

The Police have arrested a 16-year-old male teenager for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted housebreaking.

On 10 March 2026 at about 1.20am, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking where a retail outlet along Holland Village was purportedly broken into.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTV and Police cameras, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him within 12 hours of the report.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the teenager had allegedly forced open the door. No items were reported stolen.

The teenager will be charged in court on 11 March 2026 with the offence of attempted housebreaking in order to commit theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise members of the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Secure all doors, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks before leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
  2. Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in your premises; and
  3. Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
