Man To Be Charged For Voluntarily Causing Hurt By Dangerous Weapons

The Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons.

On 29 June 2026 at about 7.36pm, the Police received a call for assistance at Tampines Street 81. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 37-year-old victim was shot with an air-soft gun, sustaining injuries to his ear and forehead.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man who had fired the airsoft gun and arrested him later that same day. Officers discovered a substantial cache of weapons and prohibited items in the man’s unit. The seized items included several airsoft guns and ammunition, a knuckle duster, a suspected stun device and an assortment of airsoft gun parts.

The man will be charged in court on 1 July 2026 with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means under Section 324 of the Penal Code 1871.  The offence carries an imprisonment of up to 7 years and with caning or fine. He is potentially facing additional charges under the Guns, Explosives and Weapons Control Act 2021 and the Penal Code 1871.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence in the community and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
