The Police have arrested four men, aged between 26 and 45, for their suspected involvement in circulating obscene materials through a chat group, “Sam’s lots of CB collection”, in Telegram.

On 24 October 2019, the Police received a report against the chat group for circulating obscene materials. Through investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identities of the men and arrested them on 6 November 2019. Preliminary investigations revealed that three men, aged between 29 and 45, are the administrators behind the said chat group, while the 26-year-old man has advertised the sale of obscene materials. More than 15 electronic devices, including a central processing unit, several laptops, hard-disk drives and mobile phones, were seized as case exhibits.

Investigations are ongoing.

Anyone convicted for an offence of circulating of obscene materials, under Section 292(1)(a) the Penal Code, Chapter 224, shall be punished with imprisonment for up to 3 months, or with fine, or both.

Members of the public are advised to stop soliciting in any lewd website or joining such online platforms and illicit chat groups. The Police takes a serious view of anyone involved in criminal activities and will continue to take tough enforcement actions against those breaking the law.
