Man Arrested For Voluntarily Causing Hurt By A Dangerous Weapon Within One Hour

The Police have arrested a 69-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon.

On 23 October 2021 at about 11.00pm, the Police received a call for assistance at Blk 90 Pipit Road. Upon Police’s arrival, a 51-year-old man was found with lacerations and stab wounds on his body in a residential unit at the said location. He was conscious when conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Another victim, a 42-year-old man, sustained a cut on his finger. It was established that the assailant was known to the victims and had fled prior to Police’s arrival.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the assailant and arrested him within one hour of the incident.

The 69-year-old man will be charged in court on 25 October 2021 with voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon, under Section 324 of the Penal Code. The offence carries a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years, or a fine, or caning, or a combination of such punishments.

The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of violence and disregard of the law. We will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
