Man Arrested For Housebreaking

The Police have arrested a 37-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking.

On 27 April 2020 at about 2.10pm, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a temple along Geylang Road. A total of nine statues were reported missing.

Through follow up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTV and police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on the same day.

The man will be charged in court on 29 April 2020 with housebreaking under Section 451 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

·             Secure all doors, windows and other openings when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

·             Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in any premises.
