Man To Be Charged For Using Criminal Force And Voluntarily Causing Hurt

A 44-year-old man will be charged in court on 5 August 2020 for the offences of using criminal force and voluntarily causing hurt committed against a cleaner.

On 5 February 2020, the Police were alerted to a case of dispute at 45 Quality Road. During the dispute, the man had allegedly thrown his plate of food at the cleaner. In the ensuing altercation, the man allegedly pushed the cleaner and caused her to fall.

The man will be charged in court on 5 August 2020. The offence of using criminal force under Section 352 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 months, or a fine of up to $1,500, or both. The offence of voluntary causing hurt under Section 323 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 years, or with fine of up to $5,000, or both.

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence, and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
