11 Arrested In Enforcement Operation Against Gambling Activities

The Police have arrested ten men and one woman, aged between 18 and 29, in an enforcement operation conducted by Woodlands Police Division targeting gambling activities along Mandai Estate on 5 August 2020.

During the operation, the 11 individuals were arrested for offences under the Common Gaming Houses Act. Several gambling paraphernalia were also seized as case exhibits.

Investigations are ongoing. Police are also investigating the 11 individuals for breaching safe distancing measures under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.

Under the Common Gaming Houses Act, any person gaming in public shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or both.

The Police will continue to clamp down on criminal activities, including illegal gambling. Those found engaging in illicit activities will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law.
