Eight Suspects Arrested For Rioting With Dangerous Weapon

The Police have arrested seven male teenagers and one female teenager, aged between 16 and 20 for their suspected involvement in a case of rioting with dangerous weapon.

On 10 November 2020 at about 3.40pm, the Police were alerted to a case of fight using weapons along Eunos Crescent. Upon Police’s arrival, a 14-year-old male teenager claimed that he was injured when a group of teenagers whom he was supposed to meet, had purportedly attacked him. Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from CCTVs and police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the suspects and arrested them within 16 hours.

The eight suspects will be charged in court on 12 November 2020 for rioting with dangerous weapon under Section 148 of the Penal Code Chapter 224. If convicted, they face an imprisonment term which may extend to ten years and caning.
