Man Arrested For Snatch Theft

The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.

On 12 December 2020 at about 1.30am, the Police were alerted to a case of snatch theft where a man had purportedly snatched cash amounting to $30,000 from another man along Syed Alwi Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that both men are known to each other and allegedly met at the location for a business-related transaction.

Through ground enquiries and extensive follow-up investigations, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Scotts Road on 17 December 2020.

The man will be charged in court on 19 December 2020 with snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.
