Man Arrested For Attempted Murder

The Police have arrested a 59-year-old man for his suspected involvement in the attempted murder of a 48-year-old woman.

On 30 December 2020 at about 8.00am, the Police received a call for assistance at a residential unit along Pari Dedap Walk. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the woman wounded on the floor outside the unit. The woman was conveyed conscious to hospital and is in a stable condition. Preliminary investigations reveal that they are known to each other.

The 59-year-old man was subsequently arrested inside the unit. He will be charged in court on 31 December 2020 with attempted murder. If convicted, the offence of attempted murder when hurt is caused to any person by such act, punishable under section 307 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment for life or imprisonment for up to 20 years and a fine.
