The Police have arrested a man and a woman, aged 62 and 55, for their suspected involvement in a series of theft from motor vehicles.

Between 3 and 7 April 2021, the Police were alerted to multiple cases of theft from motor vehicles in Ang Mo Kio and Geylang where valuables such as cash cards, wallet, mobile phone and cash were reported missing.

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from in-car and CCTV cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the couple and arrested them on 12 April 2021.

The couple will be charged in court on 14 April 2021 with theft with common intention under Section 379 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, or fine, or both.

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your vehicle in well-lit areas;

  • Install an anti-theft alarm system and ensure it is well-maintained;

  • Remove cash cards, keys and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones, before leaving the vehicle; and
