Woman Under Investigation For Promoting Enmity Between Different Racial Groups

The Police are investigating a 27-year-old Singaporean woman of Malay ethnicity for promoting enmity between different racial groups. 

On 29 August 2021, the Police received a report relating to offensive content allegedly posted against the Malay community by a Twitter user with the moniker, ‘Matilda Lee’.

Through investigations, the Police established the identity of the woman on 29 August 2021. Police investigations are ongoing.

The offence of promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of race under Section 298A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, or a fine, or both.
