Man To Be Charged For Possession Of An Offensive Weapon

The Police will be charging a 54-year-old man for his suspected involvement in an offence of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

On 24 September 2022 at about 7.40pm, the Police received a call for assistance regarding a man allegedly holding a knife along Bukit Batok St 31. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had a prior dispute with a known acquaintance and was believed to be drunk. There were no reported injuries, and one chopper was seized as a case exhibit.

The man will be charged in court on 26 September 2022 with possession of offensive weapon under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years and caning of not less than six strokes.

The Police have zero tolerance towards acts of violence that threaten the safety of the general public. Offenders will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
