Woman To Be Charged For Operating An Unlicensed Massage Establishment

The Police will be charging a 53-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in operating an unlicensed massage establishment along Upper Serangoon Road.

On 31 May 2022 at about 8.35pm, during enforcement operations conducted by Ang Mo Kio Police Division along Upper Serangoon Road, the woman was found to be allegedly operating the massage establishment for the purpose of providing massage services, without a valid licence.

The woman will be charged in court on 25 January 2023 with carrying on a business of providing massage services in an establishment for massage without a valid licence under Section 5(1) of the Massage Establishments Act 2017. The offence carries a fine not exceeding $10,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both. For repeat offenders, the offence carries a fine not exceeding $20,000, imprisonment of up to five years, or both.

The Police take a serious view against any person who may be involved in such illicit business operations and perpetrators will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
