Three Teenagers Arrested For Theft Of Motorcycle Within 9 Hours

The Police have arrested three teenagers, aged between 16 and 19, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motorcycle. 

On 24 February 2024 at 10.01am, the Police received a report from a victim stating that his motorcycle parked at a carpark along Bedok Reservoir Road was purportedly stolen. 

Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police cameras and closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the trio and arrested them within 9 hours from the report. The stolen motorcycle was recovered. 

The trio will be charged in Court on 26 February 2024 with the offence of theft of a motor vehicle with common intention under Section 379A read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine. 

The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  1. Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

  2. Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle and ensure that it is well-maintained;

  3. Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;

  4. Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard;

  5. Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended; and

  6. Do not leave spare keys inside the motorcycle storage box.
