The Police has arrested three men, aged between 21 to 36, for their suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt and receiving stolen property.

On 15 October 2024 at about 9.40am, the Police were alerted to a case of robbery with hurt along Lorong 35 Geylang. A 27-year-old male victim was allegedly assaulted by an unknown man and sustained minor injuries. A handphone and some cash were allegedly taken away from the victim.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the three men involved and arrested them on 16 and 17 October 2024. Preliminary investigations revealed that on 15 October 2024, the man was confronted by a 29-year-old man and was allegedly assaulted by him, and cash amounting to $7 and his handphone valued at $199 were taken away. Investigations also revealed that the 29-year-old man handed the handphone to two other men, aged 21 and 36. The two men subsequently sold the handphone. The handphone was eventually recovered and seized as case exhibit.

The 29-year-old man will be charged in court on 18 October 2024 with the offence of robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and caning of not less than 12 strokes. The two other men will be charged in court on 18 October 2024 with the offence of receiving stolen property under Section 411 of the Penal Code 1871.  The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 5 years, or with fine, or with both.

The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law. Members of the public who encounter such cases are advised to remain calm, take note of the physical appearance and distinctive features of the perpetrator, and call for the Police as soon as possible.
