Man Arrested For Voluntarily Causing Hurt To Deter A Public Servant From His Duty

The Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt to deter a public servant from the discharge of his duty.

On 24 March 2025 at about 4.10am, the Police were alerted to a case of dispute at Block 569A Champions Way.

When officers from Woodlands Police Division were attending to the incident, the man charged towards an officer and he was subsequently arrested. During the arrest, the man headbutted the officer. He sustained minor injuries and was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

The man will be charged in court on 25 March 2025 with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from the discharge of his duty under Section 332 of the Penal Code 1871.  The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years, and a fine, or caning. Investigations are ongoing. 

The Police have zero tolerance towards such acts of violence towards Police officers or public servants who are carrying out their duties. The Police will not hesitate to take firm actions against those who endanger the safety of our officers.
