Man Arrested For Housebreaking And Theft Within Four Hours

The Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.

On 31 May 2025 at about 7.55am, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking and theft at a residential unit along Jurong West Street 93. Cash amounting to SGD55, RM168 and printed copies of $193 Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers were purportedly stolen.

With the aid of Police cameras and footage from CCTVs, officers from Jurong Police Division, Clementi Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre established the identity of the man and arrested him along Jurong East Street 32 within four hours of the report. Cash and CDC vouchers were recovered from the man’s possession upon his arrest.

The man will be charged in court on 2 June 2025 with the offence of housebreaking in order to commit theft under Section 451 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all house owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows, grilles and other openings with good quality grilles and close-shackle padlocks when leaving your premise unattended, even for a short while;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in your premises; and

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor lights and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premise. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition
