The Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
On 17 July 2026 at about 12 pm, the Police received a report that a woman was allegedly molested by an unknown man at a shopping mall along Woodlands Street 12.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within 4 hours of the report.
The man will be charged in court on 18 July 2026 with the offence of outrage of modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to three years, a fine, a caning, or any combination of such punishments.
The Police have zero tolerance towards sexual offenders who prey on unsuspecting victims and threaten the personal safety of those in the community. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law. Victims of molestation should move away from the perpetrators and call the police immediately when it is safe to do so. While ensuring their personal safety, victims should try to note key details such as perpetrator’s physical appearance, clothing, the time and location of the incident.
