The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man and 23-year-old woman for their suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.

On 24 July 2026 at 7.45pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of motor vehicle. The victim reported that his rental car parked at the multi-storey carpark along Kranji Loop on 21 July 2026 was stolen. 

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 6 August 2026. The stolen vehicle was also recovered. Preliminary investigations revealed that the key to the rental car had been left unattended overnight on one of the car tyres.  

The man will be charged in court on 8 August 2026 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871 The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine. 

Investigations are ongoing against the woman.

The Police would like to advise all motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

• Park your motor vehicle in well-lit areas; 
• Do not leave your key or transponder unattended;
• Remove cashcards, keys and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving the vehicle; and
• Wind up all windows and lock all doors of the vehicle, even if it is intended to be left unattended for a short while.
