The Police have arrested an 18-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.

On 27 January 2020 at about 9pm, the Police received a report from an elderly male victim that his handphone was snatched by an unknown man while he was seated at the void deck of a block along Tampines Street 82. The man then fled on foot.

 Through ground enquiries and with the aid of image from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 30 January 2020.

Police investigations are ongoing. The offence of snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and shall also be liable to caning.
