The Police have arrested a 58-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of housebreaking cases.

On 4 June 2021 at about 11.45pm, the Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a unit located along Wilkinson Road. A man had allegedly entered the unit from the front gate and subsequently left. Nothing was stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of CCTV cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 10 June 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is suspected to be involved in other housebreaking cases along Wilkinson Road.

 The man will be charged in court on 12 June 2021 with housebreaking in order to commit an offence under Section 451 of the Penal Code. The offence carries an imprisonment term which may extend to ten years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed shackle padlocks before leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in any premises; and

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
