The Police have arrested a 27-year-old woman for her suspected involvement in a series of unauthorised modification of computer material cases.

Since 15 September 2021, the Police received several reports from victims who were delivery personnel of parcel and food delivery companies or private-hire drivers. These victims claimed that their ‘PayLah’ accounts were purportedly compromised after their encounters with the woman and a total sum amounting to about $5,120 were transferred without their consent.

Through investigations, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the woman and arrested her on 23 September 2021.

The woman will be charged in court on 25 September 2021. The offence of unauthorised modification of computer material under Section 5(1) of the Computer Misuse Act carries an imprisonment term of up to three years and a fine.
