Police Revoked Public Entertainment And Liquor Licences Of Eight Nightlife And F&B Establishments

The Police have revoked five public entertainment and eight liquor licenses belonging to eight distinct nightlife and F&B establishments, which were found to have repeatedly and egregiously breached Safe Management Measures (SMM).

During enforcement checks conducted by Government agencies, operators of these establishments were found to have committed SMM breaches on multiple occasions. These breaches included provision of hostessing services, failure to ensure that group sizes did not exceed the prevailing cap on social gatherings, and the provision of dice games and cards within the permitted premises.

All eight establishments were issued with closure orders for periods ranging from 10 to 30 days, and may be liable for prosecution as well as composition notices for the breaches. Given the repeated and egregious nature of these breaches, the Police have taken action to revoke their public entertainment and liquor licences under the Public Entertainments Act and the Liquor Control (Supply and Consumption) Act 2015 respectively. Please refer to Annex A for the list of establishments with public entertainment and liquor licences revoked.

For non-compliance with SMMs under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, individuals and operators found guilty shall be liable to an imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, a fine of up to S$10,000, or both.

Government agencies, with support of the Police, will continue to carry out regular enforcement checks on nightlife and F&B establishments to ensure compliance with SMMs. Members of the public and businesses are advised to take the prevailing SMMs seriously. The Police have zero tolerance for irresponsible behavior relating to the flouting of these measures and offenders will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
