National Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) Award

The National Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) Award was introduced in 2009 to recognise Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) members at national level for their exceptional efforts on premise safety and security. The award has also garnered interest of non-SSWG members and encouraged them to actively join the scheme and participate in SSWG activities. Motivated members taking ownership and practicing a proactive approach towards their premise safety and security has contributed strategically to the safety and security of Singapore. To many SSWG members, qualifying for the award is prestigious and a remarkable organisational achievement.

This award ceremony has been organised for 5 consecutive years and it is timely to conduct a review on the award structure and its grading criteria to meet the challenges of our dynamic operating environment.

The review process will see changes made to the following areas:

  • Biennial award presentation
    • Having the award ceremony once every two years will provide a reasonable window period for participating members to carry out their internal review and/or system upgrade.
    • The next award ceremony will be held in 2016.
  • Alignment of assessment period against calendar year
    • Alignment of assessment period made to ensure smooth administrative process.
    • New assessment period will be between 1 Jan and 31 Dec of the following year (see Table 1 for illustration of the new timeline) Table 1 Assessment period Nomination Event Year 2016 Year 2018

We hope that the review will sustain the interest of our SSWG members and kinder interest for non-members to join our ranks in contributing towards a safer and more secure Singapore.
