Check Eligibility for Spent Record

INTRODUCTION

Individual can check the spent status of the individual's criminal record can be rendered spent. The purpose is to help such deserving ex-offenders put their past behind them and re-integrate into society.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Individual that has satisfied a crime-free period of not less than 5 consecutive years from:

  • the date the sentence was passed, after the sentence is no longer subject to appeal , in the case of a fine; or
  • the date of release from legal custody, in the case of incarceration.

A registrable offence as stated in First Schedule and Second Schedule of the Registration of Criminals Act

IMPORTANT NOTICE

A criminal record is a record of a conviction or sentence given by the courts to an individual who was found guilty of committing a registrable offence. 

With effect from 17 October 2005, the Registration of Criminals Act allows the record of a minor conviction kept in the Register of Criminals to become spent if the person has stayed crime-free for a specified period.
