Police have arrested a 17-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft committed at Jurong Lake Park.

 

          On 26 January 2015 at about 5.56 pm, an 82-year-old woman reported to the Police that her handbag containing her personal belongings and valuables was snatched away by an unknown man at Jurong Lake Park. He was last seen running towards Tah Ching Rd. Through extensive ground enquiries, Police established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 2 February 2015. The victim’s mobile phone was also recovered from the suspect.

 

          The suspect will be charged in Court on 4 February 2015 for the offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.  If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
