Police have arrested a 49-year-old man for an offence of Theft from Vehicle.

 

2          On 8 January 2015 at about 4.49 pm, Police were alerted to a case of Theft from Vehicle at the multi-storey car park of Blk 550B Segar Road. The vehicle owner reported to the police that his vehicle had been ransacked and cables amounting to S$3000 were stolen.  

 

3          Officers from Jurong Police Division responded immediately to the scene. Following extensive ground enquiries, the identity of the suspect was established and he was subsequently arrested on 4 February 2015 at about 10.32 pm, along Yishun Ring Road

 

4          The suspect will be charged in Court on 6 February 2015 for an offence of Theft under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with a jail term of up to 3 years, or a fine, or with both.

 

5          Police would like to advise the public to adopt the following crime prevention measures against Theft from Vehicle:

 

  • Always secure your vehicle;

  • Do not leave valuables such as cashcards, laptops, handphones, briefcase, wallets, etc in your vehicle;

  • Ensure that your car alarm is in working condition; and

  • If you see any suspicious characters loitering around the vicinity, do take note of their appearance, clothing, height, age or any other distinctive physical features and contact the Police for assistance.
