            Police have arrested three men, aged between 28 and 32, for suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking at Blk 619A Punggol Drive.

 

          On 2 February 2015 at about 6.40am, a 58-year-old woman reported that her house had been broken into and valuables such as mobile phones and a bicycle amounting to about $700 were found to be missing. Upon receiving the information, officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive ground enquires to establish the identities of the suspects before arresting them in Pasir Ris, Tampines and Punggol Central on 11 February 2015.

 

          The 28-year-old suspect will be charged in Court on 13 February 2015 for an offence Housebreaking and Theft by under Section 458A of the Penal Code Chapter 224 which carries a maximum of 14 years imprisonment with caning. The investigations against the other two suspects are ongoing.

 

          Members of the public are advised to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Lock all the doors and windows when leaving your home unattended, even for a short while;

  • Keep large sums of cash in banks and jewellery in a safe deposit box;

  • Do not hide keys under the door mat, in a flower pot or on top of the electricity meter box outside the house;

  • Do not leave notes outside your house announcing absence from home;

  • Suspend or cancel all home deliveries (e.g. newspapers) when you are away from home; and

  • Change all locks when your house keys are lost or stolen.
