A 45-year-old man has been arrested for snatch theft with the assistance from two public-spirited members of public.
2 On 22 February 2015 at about 11.50 pm, a 47-year-old woman was walking on the link bridge along Woodlands Road when the suspect snatched her handbag and fled towards the direction of Stagmont Ring. The victim gave chase and shouted for help. Her cries attracted the attention of two members of the public, who gave chase and detained the suspect at a bus stop along Woodlands Road and handed him over to the Police. The stolen handbag was also recovered.
3 The suspect will be charged in Court on 24 February 2015 for the offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspect faces a maximum jail term of 7 years and shall also be liable to caning.
