Police have arrested a 17-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of Attempted Snatch Theft committed onboard a bus travelling along Commonwealth Avenue.

 

          On 25 February 2015 at about 9.25 pm, a 35-year-old man reported to the Police that a man had tried to snatch away his handphone while onboard a bus. The attempt failed and the suspect managed to alight from the bus and was last seen running towards the direction of Commonwealth MRT Station. Through extensive ground enquiries, Police established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 26 February 2015.

 

          The suspect will be charged in Court on 28 February 2015 for the offence of Attempted Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.  If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
