Police have arrested a 26-year-old man who is believed to be involved in multiple cases of snatch theft targeting women at Jurong East, Pandan Gardens and Faber Walk housing estates. 

 

          Since January 2015, Police received five reports where the female victims’ handphones were snatched from them. Officers from the Clementi Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and arrested the man on 1 March 2015 at 1.40 am at Penjuru Place. Four of the stolen handphones were recovered from the suspect and seized as case exhibits. Police investigations are ongoing.

 

          The suspect will be charged in Court on 2 March 2015 for the offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum of 7 years’ imprisonment and shall also be liable to caning.
