Police have arrested two men, aged 21 and 25, on 4 March 2015 for involvement in a series of theft of EZ-Link card readers from SMRT buses. Between 21 to 24 January 2015, a total of five card readers were reported to be stolen from five SMRT buses. The bus captains had discovered the items missing before commencing their shifts.

 

2          Officers from Jurong Police Division and Public Transport Security Command conducted extensive investigations which led to the arrests.

 

3          Both men will be charged in Court on 6 March 2015 for the offence of Theft with Common Intention, under Section 379 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, for which they may be sentenced to a maximum term of imprisonment of three years, or fine, or both.
