Police have arrested a 27-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft along Nicoll Highway.
2 On 15 April 2015 at about 6.15am, a 9-year-old male victim was walking along the overhead bridge along Java Road towards Nicoll Highway. The victim was using his mobile phone when the suspect walked towards him from the opposite direction and snatched the victim’s mobile phone. The suspect fled and the victim approached a passer-by who called for the Police.
3 Upon receiving the information, officers from the Central Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and viewed several CCTV cameras at the vicinity and established the suspect's identity. The officers subsequently arrested the suspect along Aljunied Road on 15 April 2015 at about 9.05pm. A mobile phone was recovered and seized as case exhibit.
4 Investigations are on-going.
5 Police would like to advise parents, guardians or caregivers of young children to adopt the following measures to prevent their children from becoming victims of any crime:
