Police have arrested a 56-year-old man who is believed to be responsible for committing housebreaking and theft at Sungei Kadut Industrial Estate. 

 

2          On 11 May 2015 at about 6.36am, Police were alerted to a case of housebreaking at a unit located at Sungei Kadut Loop. Cash amounting to about S$2,000/- was stolen from the premises. Upon receiving the information, officers from the Jurong Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries to establish the identity of the suspect. The officers then arrested the suspect at Choa Chu Kang Crescent on the following day at about 3.20pm and cash amounting to $1300 was also recovered.

 

3          The suspect will be charged in the Court on 14 May 2015 for the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries a maximum imprisonment term of 14 years.

 

4          Members of the public are advised adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Lock all the doors and windows when leaving your home unattended, even for a short while;

  • Keep large sums of cash in banks and jewellery in a safe deposit box;

  • Do not hide keys under the door mat, in a flower pot or on top of the electricity meter box outside the house;

  • Do not leave notes outside your house announcing absence from home;

  • Suspend or cancel all home deliveries (e.g. newspapers) when you are away from home; and

  • Change all locks when your house keys are lost or stolen.
