Police have arrested two men, aged 17 and 19, who are believed to be involved in a case of taxi robbery committed along Clementi Ave 1.

On 15 Oct 2015 at about 4.15 am, a 60-year-old male taxi driver reported to the Police that he had been robbed of his money amounting to about $25/- by two unknown men and they had fled towards Clementi Ave 2. The driver also reported that he was hurt in the process.

Officers from Clementi Division arrived at the crime scene promptly and conducted a coordinated search in the vicinity of Clementi Ave 2. Officers’ efforts paid off when they managed to trace and arrest one of the suspects in along Clementi Ave 2 at about 6.50 am. Through extensive follow-up investigations, officers arrested his accomplice at his residence along Clementi Ave 3 on 15 Oct 2015 at about 9.15 am. All the stolen money was recovered.

The suspects will be charged in Court on 16 October 2015 for an offence of Robbery with Hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and shall also be punished with caning with not less than 12 strokes.
