Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Armed Robbery with Hurt reported at Blk 10 Lorong 7 Toa Payoh.

On 30 October 2015 at about 7.54 pm, a 62-year-old woman reported to the Police that she was assaulted and robbed of her handbag inside the lift. The suspect was armed with a knife and had thrown curry powder contained in a transparent container at the victim during the robbery. The container was recovered at the scene.

Following the report, officers from the Tanglin Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and reviewed the POLCAM cameras in the vicinity. The identity of the suspect was subsequently established and he was arrested at Lorong 7 Toa Payoh on 12 November 2015. A container similar to the one recovered at the scene was seized as case exhibit.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 14 November 2015 for the offence of Armed Robbery with Hurt under Section 394 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces imprisonment of not less than 5 years and up to 20 years and shall also be punished with caning not less than 12 strokes.
