Clementi Division, together with Delta Citizenry members from the 13 different constituencies under the jurisdiction of Clementi Division (The 13 constituencies include Clementi, Holland-Bukit Timah, West Coast, Buona Vista, Queenstown, Tanglin-Cairnhill, Telok Blangah, Yuhua, Bukit Batok East , Jurong Central, Ulu Pandan , Radin Mas and Ayer Rajah), came together as one for the first time on 22 November 2015 for the Delta Citizenry Community Engagement Day. Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) & Member of Parliament for West Coast GRC graced the event as the Guest-of-Honour.
Delta Citizenry is a Resident’s Watch Group formed in 2010 and its members share a common objective to build a connected community and strengthen the safety and security of their neighbourhood. During the event, Delta Citizenry members had the opportunity to know each other better through team-bonding activities.
The event was also supported by students from Tanglin Secondary School as well as the skit team from the Youth Community Outreach Patrol (Youth COP). Youth COP is a collaboration between Clementi NPC and Students Care Service (Clementi) to build leadership and responsibility among at-risk youths. The Youth COP skit team once again collaborated with Delta Citizenry members in performing a crime prevention musical that aimed to raise awareness on current crime trends related to online scams.
The highlight for the event was the setting of a record in the Singapore Book of Records. Delta Citizenry members worked together to spell out the message “Everyone can play a part in crime prevention†using 401 tissue boxes and achieved the new record of forming the “The Largest Word Formation using Tissue Boxesâ€. This record is a unique way of promoting crime prevention by getting members from different watch groups to work together to achieve a common goal.
