The Police have arrested a 25 year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of armed robbery at a commercial premise located at Blk 531 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10. The suspect was arrested within 12 hours of the report.

On 20 January 2016 at about 1.20pm, a 40 year-old sales assistant of a commercial premise located at Blk 531 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 reported that an unknown man donning a surgical mask and armed with knife had robbed her of cash amounting to $850 before fleeing.

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Division collaborated with Police Intelligence Department, Transcom and Bedok Division to conduct extensive investigations into the case. Through follow up investigations, the suspect’s identity was established and he was subsequently arrested on 21 Jan 2016 at about 1.00am at the vicinity of Blk 22 Marsiling Drive. A knife and some surgical masks were seized from his possession as case exhibits.

The suspect will be charged in State Court on 22 January 2016 with an offence of Armed Robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he face a jail term of up to 14 years and shall be liable for caning of not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
