The Police have arrested two men, aged 21 and 26, for their suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft at Jurong West St 41 on 26 January 2016.

On 26 January 2016 at about 2.30 pm, two unknown men approached the female victim at the void deck of HDB at Jurong West St 41. One of them then snatched her handbag before fleeing from the scene with his accomplice.

Upon receipt of the report, officers from Jurong Division conducted extensive follow-up investigations. Through images from Police cameras (POLCAM) and ground enquiries conducted, one of the suspect’s identity was established. He was swiftly arrested along Tah Ching Rd on 26 January 2016 at about 5.50 pm, within 4 hours of the incident. His accomplice was arrested shortly after along Jurong West St 72 on 27 January 2016 at about 12.15 am.

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 28 January 2016 with an offence of Snatch Theft with common intention under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, read with Section 34 of the same Act. If convicted, each face a maximum jail term of 7 years and shall also be liable for caning.
