The Police have arrested two men aged 22 and 28 who are believed to be involved in a case of break-in reported at a private clinic located along Kensington Park Road.

On 20 Jan 2016 at about 8.38pm, the care taker of a private clinic located at Kensington Park reported that the clinic was broken into and a safe containing cash amounting to about $1357/- was missing.

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive follow up investigations and established the identity of the suspects. On 4 Feb 2016 at about 11.35pm, the first suspect was arrested at the vicinity of Lorong 6 Geylang. Through follow up investigations, the second suspect was arrested at his residence in Blk 446 Fernvale Road on the following day at about 2.30pm.

The suspects will be charged in Court on 6 Feb 2016 with an offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night with common intention under Section 457 read with section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to 14 years imprisonment.

The public is advised to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks;
  • Secure all doors and window grills before retiring to bed or when leaving your shop/home unattended, even for a short while;
  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition; and
  • Keep large sums of cash in banks with minimal sum of money left behind in the commercial premise in the night hours.
